Switch Midlands is based in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. We work with schools, local authorities and funders to help support children and young people, specialising in working with those that face exclusion and isolation from their schools, communities or families. About you
Candidates should have experience of working with children and young people with complex needs, a passion for improving lives of others and a commitment to developing new and innovative ways to help children and young people. We are particularly interested in speaking with people who feel they can positively contribute to the organisation’s continued growth.
We are most interested in speaking with people who have:
- Experience in primary and/or secondary schools.
- A love of supporting disadvantaged children and young people to reach their potential
- Confidence in leading 1-to-1 or small groups of pupils with a positive, calm approach
- A passion for working with colleagues to deliver the best outcomes
- An interest in flexible working within a self-managing team
- Reliability and adaptability, with good communication and time management skills
About the role
Outreach practitioners
We are currently looking for peripatetic practitioners to support primary schools across Wolverhampton. Typically each ‘Switch Coach’ will be commissioned to provide:
- Blocks of half-termly sessions within primary or secondary school settings. This consists of up to 2hrs contact time with pupils (either 1-to-1, or small groups dependent on need) – providing our social and emotional learning programme, plus any tailored interventions where appropriate
- 0.5hrs per block/per week for report writing and Switch Midlands team supervision meetings
- Sessions are delivered either AM between 09.00am and 12.00pm and/or PM between 1.00pm and 3.00pm dependent on Switch Coach and school’s mutual availability/timetables
- Multiple blocks, longer term commissions are available
£20.00 per hour, plus travel expenses where eligible
Blocks currently available are:
- Spring Term w/c 27th February to w/c 27th March 2023 – 4 blocks across 3 primary schools. £250 per block, with potential to extend into summer term 2023 dependent on performance
